Following the Kick-Off Concert

There’s no reason to leave DC completely following the big Kick-Off Concert at the Lincoln Memorial on Sunday. There’s plenty going on in DC on Sunday night that you may want to hang around and check some of it out. I recommend seeing Danni Rosner with The Echo Boom at Midtown. For a taste of Danni’s music check out Jaded. The doors open at 6:00pm. It only costs $10, which is a lot cheaper than most of the stuff going down Sunday night. AND, the show is over at 10pm which means you can still catch everything else going on around town.

Jammin in Vienna

Let’s be honest, no one wants to do any work between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day. People take vacation and it makes it that much more unbearable for those who have to work. One solution to this is to go out and have a good time regardless of whether or not you have to work. You can finish things in 2009, that’s what the New Year is all about.

Now that we’ve determined that you are going to play instead of work going into the new year, its time to decide where to go. If you’re in Northern Virginia, the place to go on Tuesday, December 30th is Jammin’ Java in Vienna. Three innovative groups will be playing. The Echo Boom (not to be confused with the Echo Boomers) are a group that blends rock, funk and hip-hop coming from Takoma Park, MD. Violet Says 5 has a very similar style to The Echo Boom also coming from the Washington DC area. Danni Rosner from Fairfax/Arlington, VA rounds out the three bands with her soulful voice. Show starts at 8pm! (more…)

Danni Rosner takes on dishwashers and writers

Singer/Songwriter Danni Rosner will be playing Busyboys & Poets in NW DC on Wednesday Dec 17th. It may seem weird that Danni is rocking this place out since she is neither a busboy or a writer (she’s a lyricist), but its all part of Busboys and Poets’ new “Humpday Groovez”. Personally, I think Busboys and Poets needs to go all the way and have a slogan like “Get over your humpday blues with Humpday Goovez” (feel free to take the idea, I’m not claiming copyright ownership to it). The doors open and the show starts  at 9 PM (don’t be late) at the 14th & V Busboys & Poets location (2021 14th Street, NW). Admission is $10.

Be sure to catch Danni and her band before she takes off to great things. Her soulful voice provides a nice balance to the alternative rock sound of the band. To emphasize the softer tone of her music, this Wednesday’s show will also be featuring violin and the band should feel more like an orchestra. Its going to be a great show, don’t miss it. Also, Danni will be playing at Jammin Java on December 30th, more info on that show to come. (more…)
